In Surah al-Dukhan (44:38-40), Allah, Al-Aziz wa Al-Raheem (The All-Mighty and Victorious and The Most Merciful), that His creating the Heavens and the Earth is ma la’ibina (not in play, not for play or sport). The word lab’ibina comes from la’b which means “merely play, anything done in vain,” like child’s play. Rather, His creating them is bil-Haqqi (in the Truth, with the Truth). Al-Aziz wa Al-Raheem created everyone and everything and the Day of Judgement, the Day of Decision, the Day of Distinction is the appointed time for us all. “Logical arguments are being produced for proving Resurrection” so “any sensible person may use his intellection to perceive that God Almighty created not the heavens and the earth and what is between them in vain but they were created with truth” according to His “Divine Wisdom and Omniscience…The purpose behind creating the Heavens and the Earth is the creation of man and the purpose behind creating man is to raise him up on the Day of Resurrection, or else the creation of the Heavens and the Earth would be in vain.” Thus, “if there were no Resurrection, creation would be purposeless, since the world of existence has been created for man and if man becomes non-existent by death, the world of existence would also be in vain….Since creation enjoys a true purpose, Resurrection should occur.” Since Al-Aziz wa Al-Raheem created the world of existence with truth, “He will not abandon His favorite creature” upon our death. We will all gather on the Day of Resurrection, Al-Yawm al-Fadl (The Day of Distinction), before Allah Subhanahu wa ta’ala. On that Day, “truth and falsehood will be distinguished” and “the people of truth and falsehood will clearly see their past deeds and their deeds will be recompensed.” Al-Raheem “chastises or forgives whomever He Wills…based on Divine Justice and Wisdom...Since His Rahmah (Mercy) surpasses His Wrath, we are all hopeful to enjoy His Mercy and sinners, no matter to what extent they have transgressed the bounds, should not despair of His Mercy.” “Certainly no one despairs of Allah’s Mercy, except the people who disbelieve.” (12:87) A hadith says that believers’ hope and fear should be like the two pans (plates, bowls) of the balance (scale).
