In Surah Sad (38:46), Allah, Al-Aziz(The Mighty and Victorious), in the previous ayat asks us to remember Prophets Ibrahim (Abraham), Ishaq (Issac) and Yaqub (Jacob), peace and blessings be upon them, who all possessed strength, insight and vision and were chosen by Allah Subhanahu wa ta’alato be His servants. Then in this ayat, Allah, Al-Aziz, tells us that they were chosen and purified with an exclusive and pure dhikra al-Dari (remembrance of the Home). This Home they were always in remembrance of is the Hereafter, the everlasting Abode, the Next World. They had the knowledge and foresight of the perpetual Abode with its infinite bounties and they always worked for, taught about and sincerely, deeply and constantly remembered it. The Hereafter is always before their eyes, unlike most of us who only remember the Hereafter when someone we love dies or when we are ourselves dying. May Allah Subhanahu wa ta’ala protect us and help us to also remember the Hereafter where we are headed every day.
