In Surah al-Qamar (54:10), Allah, Al-Nasir (The Victory-Giver, The Helper; see for example Surah al-Hajj 22:78), talks to Prophet Muhammad (s.a.w.) and us about Prophet Nuh (Prophet Noah) (a.s.) and his Prophethood. His people denied his Prophethood and Message from Allah Subhanahu wa ta’ala, called him names and swore at him, and even threatened to kill him (see Surah al-Shu’ara 26:116). This, of course, happened to Prophet Nuh (a.s.) before the same things happened to Prophet Muhammad (s.a.w.) and in this ayat our Prophet (s.a.w.) is being consoled and told not to despair. When Prophet Nuh (a.s.) had reached his limit, he called upon our Sustainer, saying he was overpowered by the people and the situation and asked for Allah to intasir (grant victory, help). Intasir comes from the word nasr, which means victory, help (see Surah al-Nasr #110). After preaching Allah’s Message to the people for 950 years, only a few people had accepted it and Prophet Nuh (a.s.) felt neither the rest of the people nor their offspring would believe and he could not guide them to the Straight Path. And so Al-Nasir answered Prophet Nuh’s (a.s.) dua and saved him and the Muslims on the Ark and destroyed the disbelievers in the Flood. Subhanallah!
