In Surah Ale ‘Imran (3:164), Allah, Al-Wahhab (The Supreme Bestower, The Ever Giver of Gifts), tells us that He bestowed a great favour on the believers. The root word manna denotes a stone by which things are weighed. So every weighty and valuable bounty is referred to using this word. In this ayat, manna means “bestowed a favour” and “favoured.” The great bounty and favour we received is the Messenger of Allah, Prophet Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him and his family. It is the greatest gift that Al-Wahhab gave to us and, in fact, to all of humanity. The Prophet was raised up among the people to recite the Divine Revelation, the Holy Qur’an, Allah Subhanahu wa ta’ala’s Divine Words and Ayats. With it, he purified us and taught us the Book and the Wisdom with Allah’s Help. We received self-improvement, spiritual training in how to worship Allah Subhanahu wa ta’ala, knowledge and understanding and wisdom, among many other teachings to benefit us. It is certain that before this Great Favour, we were all in clear and manifest error, travelling on the wrong path. Imam Ali (a.s.) in Nahjul Balagha, tells us that the people before Prophet Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him and his family, had neither a sound culture nor good hygiene. When Ja’far Tayyar, Imam Ali’s (a.s.) brother, was in Abyssinia, he spoke about the situation of the Age of Ignorance (jahiliyah) to Najashi: “We were worshipping idols (but now we are worshippers of Allah). At that time, we consumed corpses; we were of corruptives [the corruptors]; we used to break off connections with our kindred, we had ill treatments with our neighbours; the strong members of us often devoured the rights of the weak.” Al-Hamdulillah, we are grateful to Allah for this great Favour. May Al-Wahhab keep us grateful and forever on His Path. (The more expensive price is due to the detail of the tapestry and the time it took to make it.)
