In Surah al-Baqarah (2:207), Allah, Al-Rauf (The Kind Giver, The Affectionate), advises us that the most profitable bargain is to sell your own soul, your best property, to Him on His Way for the Mardati Allah (Pleasure of Allah). The love, kindness and affection of our Al-Rauf is the best reward and there is none higher. That is why no rewards besides the statement that Allah is Al-Rauf are mentioned in this ayat. To be the beloved of Allah is our goal, inshallah. This ayat was revealed after Imam Ali, peace be upon him, slept in Prophet Muhammad’s, peace and blessings be upon him and his family, bed on the night of the Hijrah to Medina when the unbelievers were set to murder the Prophet while he slept.
