In Surah al-Baqarah (2:214), Allah, Al-Wali (The Protector and Supporter), reminds of that the mere profession of faith is not the guarantee of Paradise. Certainly, the believers must devote themselves to Allah Subhanahu wa ta’ala and face difficulties and afflictions to make the real faith manifest from the unreal one and to repel the enemies of Islam. This is a general law of Al-Wali, “a Divine practice” and “the secret of training and spiritual development.” This has been the history of the Messengers and their people throughout time. In this ayat, we see that the Messenger and the believers were so persecuted and afflicted by distress and adversity that they asked altogether, “When will Nasrullah (Allah’s Help) come?” They asked as a plea, a dua. And Allah answered that surely His Help is near. Al-Hamdulillah.
